Why is the sky blue..? 

Answer :

Our earth is covered with air which is called atmosphere. Our atmosphere is made up mainly of oxygen, carbon dioxide, nitrogen, particles, steam and many other gases. The main source of light on earth is the sun and that light travels through the atmosphere and reaches to the earth.

When sunlight passes through the atmosphere, particles, water and air particles spread it in different directions. That is why light appears on all sides only after the sun rises.

You must know that sunlight is made up of seven colors. 

Violet, Indigo ,Blue, Green, Yellow, Orange and Red (JA, NI WA, LI, PI, NA, RA). 

Violet, Indigo and Blue are the most visible colors and Red is the least visible when the sunlight passes through the particles of the atmosphere.  

That is why, when we look at the sky, the main colors in the light that enters in our eyes are Violet , Indigo and Blue. The combination of these three colors is almost Blue. 

That is why the color of the sky looks blue or sky to us. 

If it weren't the atmosphere on our planet, the sky would be completely black, all around would be dark. 

There are no scattered particles of light in the universe and that is why when you look at the sky from a spacecraft, it is dark all around.
